2020 Sarah James Fulcher Redfish Tournament Recap

Event Summary

A Special and Successful Event!

Thanks to our incredible sponsors, donors, volunteers, and attendees, the Third Annual SJF Redfish Tournament was a huge success! Special thanks to everyone who followed COVID safety guidelines, helping keep the event safe for all.

Record-Breaking Results

This year’s tournament smashed previous records in anglers, boats, fundraising, and prizes. A total of 391 anglers, including 48 youth, registered across 106 boats. The Ramsey Family Calcutta pot climbed to a record-breaking $26,500 by 5 PM.

Lines hit the water at 6 PM, and anglers faced some of the toughest weather yet—rain, lightning, water spouts, and high winds forced boats to explore new waters east and west of Cedar Island. Despite the storm, anglers reeled in an estimated 400 red drum over 40 inches!

A Star Emerges!

11-year-old Corbyn Baker stole the show, winning First Place, the Ramsey Family Calcutta, the Kid’s Tournament, and the Lady Angler Award—taking home a $30,000 purse! Her winning Old Drum measured 51.75 inches, narrowly beating second place by just 0.375 inches. Corbyn, who camped all summer at Cedar Island Resort with her family, pushed their vintage 1977 “Rogue Mullet” Pro-Line to the limit. Starting with finger mullet and working up to bluefish for bait, she landed her prize-winning catch like a seasoned pro.

Runner-Up

Kimberly Fitzgerald of Morehead City, NC, claimed second place with a 51.375-inch Old Drum, earning a $2,000 prize.
